Welcome to Kindergarten!
For many students, Kindergarten is their first experience within a school environment. The goal of Kindergarten is to help students build a strong educational foundation in a way that makes learning fun and interesting! The students read, write, and practice math problems in a traditional way, but they also sing, dance, play games, do crafts, and participate in group projects and experiments. Young children love to experience learning in many different ways! As a teacher, I try to teach my students three important lessons about learning: try your best, never give up, and everyone learns in their own way at their own pace.
Kindergarten is often the first time many of the students are part of a peer group. Because of this, Kindergarten is just as much a social learning experience as it is an academic experience. In our class, we work on being kind all year by using the Warm Fuzzy program that aims to teach the students about the values of respect, empathy, communication, and cooperation. It is very important to me that I encourage my students to want to become good students and good people as well.
