Hi!
My name is Mary Corrigan, and I am very happy to be joining Harlem Heights Community Charter School as the Literacy Coach! I will be working with the wonderful team of K-5 teachers to design instruction that meets your student’s needs and enables them to be successful, effective, and empowered readers, writers, and communicators.
Some of you may know me already. I have facilitated the after-school Writing Club for the past two years. Also, my husband, Ed, and I have been reading to students and giving them books to take home during Free Book Fridays for the past five years.
Originally from Chicago, I earned my bachelor’s degree in education from Illinois State and my master’s degree in reading from Dominican University. I am currently working on my doctorate degree in reading, language, and literacy from Concordia University. I have taught reading and language arts in many settings for over twenty years to students ages 8 to 80. I have also been a Reading Coach, Teacher Trainer, GED teacher, and college instructor.
I am excited to be working with the teachers, students, and staff at Harlem Heights Charter School this year and look forward to meeting you.
Ms. Mary
